About This Model
The pre-owned Chrysler 200 Convertible that you buy near Phoenix Arizona, formerly the Sebring, was an attractively priced mid-sized car that was available in two body styles, a sedan and a convertible. Throughout the years, the Sebring convertible enjoyed a few moments in the sun (pun intended). In 2011, this model got a full redesign and a new name, the Chrysler 200. Until then, the car was offered in quite a few models of coupes and convertibles that changed model names often, but kept the same basic lines and features. The constant shuffling of trims for the Chrysler 200 Convertible started with LX and LXi models that turned into TSi, GTC and Limiteds, to name a few. While the sedan and convertible stuck around until 2006, the coupe ended its run in 2005. Powertrains (engine sizes and transmissions) varied from 2.4L 4-cylinders to 2.6L V6s to a 3.0L V6 that made a respectable 200 horses. These engines were paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. There was never an option for a manual transmission. Early models were roomy (with lots of head- and leg-room) and sporty (with a strikingly slanted roofline and windshield) and they had a decent trunk area, even for a convertible. When the first convertible came out, it was well received, bringing dignity and a little class to the segment.
The third generation of the Chrysler 200 Convertible came out in '08. These models lasted until 2010 when the name was changed to the Chrysler 200. This car was available in an LX trim, a Touring model and a Limited trim. The Chrysler 200 Convertible is available with either a retractable hardtop or a conventional soft top. The entry-level trim had full power accessories, a telescoping/tilting steering wheel, side and front airbags, 15" painted wheel covers with ten spokes and a stereo system with a 6-CD changer. A power vinyl top was standard, with a cloth top as an option. Touring trims had 17" alloy wheels and a few design tweaks.
In the middle of the decade, the Convertible was available in four levels of trim. Starting with the base, then the GTC model, the Touring trim and the Limited model trim. The base was a simple affair with a 6-speaker audio system and A/C. The GTC model added a CD player to the audio system, a firmer suspension than the other convertibles, and cruise control. The next trim up offers faux wood accent pieces, leather on the shifter knob and leather seating. The top-level Limited trim includes automatic-dimming mirrors and a special Infinity sound system.
Two engine choices are possible. First is a 2.4L inline 4-cylinder that produces 150-hp for 160 lb-ft of torque. The second engine is a 2.7L V6 that makes 200 horses for 190 pound-feet of torque. The only transmission paired with either motor is a 4-speed automatic.
Later in the decade, the trim names for the Chrysler 200 Convertible changed some, as did the list of features. Some of the additions to the features were satellite radio, a 40/60-split back seat, a 6-speaker audio system (optional) and satellite radio. The convertible LX adds a powered vinyl soft top, a 6-speaker audio system and 6-way power-adjustable seats in the front. The LX trim can have upgraded cloth upholstery. Other features, either standard or optional, depending on model year and trim level, are automatic climate control, Bluetooth (UConnect phone), remote ignition, rearview mirrors that dim automatically, cooling/heating beverage holders and Boston Acoustics audio systems. Others include a rear-seat entertainment system, a touchscreen interface, digital music storage (30GB), a retractable hardtop to bask in the AZ sun and navigation to help you get around the Phoenix Arizona region.
LLater models of the Chrysler 200 Convertible come with either FWD or AWD (convertible FWD only). The standard powertrain is a 2.4L 4-cylinder good for 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft that is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The larger engine is a 3.5L V6 that makes 235 horses for 232 pound-feet and is paired with a 6-speed automatic. The nicely arranged cabin is comfortable for road trips and a used Chrysler 200 Convertible is pleasant to drive and you will most certainly enjoy driving one.
