About the Wrangler
The 2012 Jeep Wrangler SUV not only holds onto the appeal it has always had, it is also still a front-seller in the SUV market. One reason for this continuing popularity is its off-road prowess. It just cannot be beat for its ability to charge into places most other SUVs cringe away from, and it looks great doing it. No other vehicle offers the ability to pop the top and doors off -- AND take the windshield right off as well! There is a bit more oomph under the hood this model year, too, with a Pentastar V6 by Chrysler that cranks out 285 horses -- that is a full 83 more horsepower than last year's engine. It is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission that enhances the delivery of all that newfound power. It does not matter which trim level of 2012 Jeep Wrangler you buy in the Phoenix Arizona area. This Jeep is an icon, no matter how it is dressed.
So the Jeep Wrangler is made to run amok in the muck, that doesn't mean it can't have nice things, right? It now packs a list of features that rival many of its competition. Last years’ revamping of the interior give it a more civilized look that is more aesthetically pleasing, too. You can get a two door model or a four door model that has more room for more friends The storage area is larger in the four door, too, with close to 87 cubes of available space when the back seats are folded away. While the soft top is a bit dodgy to don and doff, the hard top has T-top-type panels that offer a good solution for people that either don't want to mess with the whole top or just don't want to go with the full Monty.
Trims, Options and Bodies
The 2012 Jeep Wrangler convertible comes in three levels of trim (and either two- or Unlimited four-door models). The Sport is a simple Jeep with 16" steel wheels, fog lights, the removable soft top, manual mirrors/locks/windows, a tilt steering wheel, a 6-speaker CD audio system (controls are on the steering wheel), tow hooks in both the front and the rear, cruise control, an audio jack and a height-adjustable driver's seat. The Unlimited has a larger fuel tank, A/C to tame the AZ desert heat, four doors and a rear seat that fold and splits 40/60. An options package called the Power Convenience Group ups the ante with heated power mirrors, keyless entry and powered windows/locks. Satellite radio, 17" alloys, a cushy leather wrapper for the steering wheel and A/C (for the two door) are stand-alone options.
The Sahara model has all the good listed before and 18" alloys, insulation beneath the hood, automatic headlights, a suspension upgrade, 6-speaker Infinity audio and body-colored fenders. The Rubicon (named for the famous trail in California) isn't the most fancy, but the most robust out in the outback. Along with the gear on the Sport, it adds special 17" wheels with 32" tires, electronic rear and front locking differentials, heavy-use axles and transfer case, rock rails, a disconnection front sway bar, leather on the steering wheel, satellite radio and A/C. The Unlimited gets the Power Convenience Group as standard, but this Group is an option on the two-door.
All trims are eligible for the Connectivity Group that has Bluetooth, an enhanced trip computer and a USB/iPod interface. A removable hard top (multiple pieces) that has a rear wiper/defroster is an option. This hard top can be had in the same color as the body on the Rubicon and Sahara trims, but it is textured black as the standard.
The Rubicon two-door model and the Sport are eligible for half doors (with plastic side windows) and/or a limited-slip differential. The Rubicon and the Sahara can both get upgraded leather upholstery, automatic climate control, and heated seats in the front to warm your bottom when the Phoenix AZ nights get chilly. They can also get a navigation system that has real-time traffic updates, music storage that is digital and a touchscreen interface.
Performance and Power
A new or used 2012 Jeep Wrangler comes with a Pentastar 3.6L V6 that makes 285 horsepower for 260 lb-ft of torque. 4WD (four-wheel-drive) is now standard on all models, and it offers low- and high-range gearing (the Rubicon also offers extra-low gearing). The standard transmission is a 6-speed manual (with Hill Start Assist). You can also opt for a 5-speed automatic. Fuel ratings for the two-door are 17/21/18 (with either transmission). The Unlimited gets in the region of 16/21/18 with the manual and 16/20/18 with the automatic. That’s a good deal on such a big vehicle!
For Your Safety
A pre-owned or new 2012 Jeep Wrangler is standard with traction control, Hill Start Assist, antilock disc brakes all around and stability control. Brake tests proved a Wrangler (two-or four-door models) could stop from sixty miles per hour in near 140 feet. The Wrangler does not do well in side-impact crash tests simply because the doors are meant to be removable, so they do not offer the same level of protection that conventional doors offer. In front- impact crash tests, however, the IIHS awarded the Wrangler is best "Good" score.
Driving this Jeep
The new or used 2012 Jeep Wrangler for sale in Phoenix Arizona for the best price at our dealership is simply the best off-roader out there. The Rubicon is roomier and can haul more of your stuff when you go adventuring, but it won't fit in the same nooks and crannies a two-door model will. While it won't take your breath away on take-off, the new Pentastar V6 is powerful enough to get off the line and to sixty quicker than you might think. Color options used for the exterior of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler include tamer shades like True Blue (Dark Blue), Natural Green (Dark Green), Bright White (White), Black, Sahara Tan (Light Brown), Flame Red (Medium Red) and Bright Silver (Light Silver). The more wild color choices include Winter Chill (Ice Blue), Gecko (Lime Green), Dozer (Bright Orange), Black Forest Green (Greenish-black), Crush (Dark Orange) and Deep Cherry Red Crystal (Dark Red). Interior colors are Dark Saddle/Black (Dark Brown/Black) and Black. All upholstery is cloth, unless you upgrade to leather.
